Our retreats include the following services.
TEMAZCAL
The womb where you are born again
Temazcal is an ancestral ceremony, one of the most ancient that exist to put us in contact with the essence of the elements: earth, wind, water, fire and ether, the same ones that make possible the life of our sister plants that give us their medicine, their aromas and their presence.
Sitting around the navel (center of the Temazcal) we become brothers and sisters as children of the same Earth that shelters us, because we all come from the Earth and we return to it. It is a space in which economic positions, titles, knowledge and belongings cease to exist, since the energy is shared equally, involving us with the same intensity.
In the ritual we tune in with the cosmic movements since each one of us represents a world that revolves around the fire so that in perfect synchrony we coexist as part of the whole, that is why the Temazcal is a dark and mystical place that leads us to turn on a light in each one of us.
This is why we say that a Temazcal is more than a simple steam bath. It is a cosmos in which another reality exists parallel to ours, a very particular space-time characterized by the mysteries of creation integrated in the conjunction of water and fire. It is a living organism that shelters us for a moment to gestate life itself in our inner being, to sow a seed, which as fertile soil we have to keep alive until it comes to bear fruit of which we will share with our brothers on the way.
AYAHUASCA ceremony
Transforming the pain into wisdom
The term Ayahuasca comes from the Quechua language and literally translates as the rope of the dead or rope of the spirit (aya is spirit and huasca, rope). Ayahuasca (banisteriopsis caapi) is a vine that in the Amazon region is called “teacher of teachers” because it is attributed the ability to teach. When mixed in decoction with chacruna leaves (Psychotria viridis) and in precise proportion, the potion “Ayahuasca” is constituted, which has psychoactive and purgative effects and represents the basis of Western Amazonian curanderismo.
This drink, of reddish-brown color, bitter taste, characteristic odor and somewhat thick consistency, is used to learn and to cure various ailments, when ingested in collective sessions and in ritual conditions.
Ayahuasca was taken more than 12 thousand years ago by the first inhabitants of the Amazon who began to look for medicinal plants to cure their illnesses, and so it has been transmitted little by little from generation to generation. Ayahuasca is considered the teacher who cures ills, who teaches us, who corrects us (like a mother who scolds us with the purpose that we leave behind our weaknesses, our burdens and continuously improve as conscious human beings), who loves us.
In the Andean-Amazonian spiritual work, the native communities consider it the “mother of plants” or of the plant world, understanding the term “mother” not in its common meaning, but as that of origin and opening towards the other plants, the channel. To say “mother of the plants” refers us to the first shots that one takes in a ritual context and that vary in results, according to the psycho-emotional state of the person, the physical location and the roots of the master who conducts the ceremony.
Before the ceremony it is important to reflect on the intentions that lead you to take the sacred medicine in this way you will accept your participation before, during and after the ceremony with an open heart with the great capacity to give and receive love, because when you open your heart at that very moment you begin to open your mind, these two intrinsic elements are universal duality that will work together with you throughout your retreat and after it.
caca0 caremony
Open your heart to love
A Cacao ceremony is a ritual in which the plant medicine of Cacao is used with intentions of healing, celebration, mourning, connection, offerings, guidance, changing perceptions or states of consciousness and spiritual practice. It is based on indigenous practices from South and Central America and concepts of Andean/Amazonian cosmovision; that describe the way of nature and living in balance with the natural world.
The ceremony involves intentional preparation of Cacao – from the farming and harvesting to the tools and practices involved in its preparation and consumption. Building a comprehensive understanding of the cosmovision of Cacao, its energetics, meaning and the indigenous use of the plant medicine is essential to understand in order to give reverence through our own ceremonial use.
Kambo caremony
“Vaccine” to deal with sickness
Kambo is a healing ritual used mainly in South America. It’s named after the poisonous secretions of the giant monkey frog, or Phyllomedusa bicolor.
The process involves drinking about a liter of water or cassava soup. Next, a practitioner will use a burning stick to create a number of small burns on the skin, resulting in blisters. The blistered skin is then scraped off, and the kambo is applied to the wounds.
From the wound, the kambo enters the lymphatic system and bloodstream, where it’s said to race around the body scanning for problems. This usually results in some immediate side effects, especially vomiting. Once these effects begin to fade, the person will be given water or tea to help flush out the toxins and rehydrate.
It can help with a range of conditions, including:
- addiction
- Alzheimer’s disease
- anxiety
- cancer
- chronic pain
- depression
- diabetes
- hepatitis
- HIV and AIDS
- infections
- infertility
- rheumatism
- vascular conditions
